Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) requires cargo to be firmly immobilized or secured on or within the vehicle to prevent shifting, falling, or loss during transportation.
The vehicle structure and any cargo securement devices (e.g., tie-downs, straps, chains) used must be capable of withstanding the forces that may be applied to them while the vehicle is in motion.
Warehouses should maintain documentation that demonstrates compliance with cargo securement regulations. This documentation may include records of inspections, maintenance, training, and any other relevant documentation related to cargo securement practices.
