Key Results:

  • The monthly increase of employee KUDOS submissions rose from 858 quarterly to 1,000 monthly.

  • More associates participated in the recognition program, including those without desk access.

  • Associates received quicker recognition for their contributions, reducing the delay from over a month to immediate feedback.

  • Weever's platform replaced paper forms, introduced inventory and point management, and enhanced visibility control forms.

The Challenge

Mars Wrigley's Topeka facility, known for producing popular brands like M&M's, Snickers, and Skittles, aimed to improve efficiency and engagement by digitizing processes and reducing paper use. A key challenge was the manual, paper-based 'KUDOS' associate recognition program, an internal employee rewards system designed to acknowledge exceptional performance. Operators would submit forms into boxes, which were later entered into monthly drawings. This process caused delays, often leaving recognized associates unaware of their achievements for over a month. With around 858 quarterly submissions and limited participation from deskless associates, the need for a real-time, digital solution to boost morale and fairness became clear.

The Implementation

Weever introduced a digital system to optimize the KUDOS Recognition Program, providing immediate employee access and eliminating the need for paper. This seamless integration aimed to streamline processes and boost operational efficiency. The initial rollout, focused on Quality Forms, saw successful engagement thanks to immediate feedback on submissions. The facility quickly expanded Weever's use, adding new forms and replacing weekly paper files. Enhanced functionalities included inventory management for the Rewards shop, point management for raffles, and form visibility control, further improving operations.

The Results

Mars Wrigley's Topeka facility has seen a significant increase in engagement, even from staff without computer access. With Weever, recognition submissions rose to around 1,000 per month, though the higher number of associates makes direct comparison difficult. Before Weever, most winners were office staff, skewing the process. The site team praised Weever's user-friendly design and improved efficiency, while the Weever Customer Success Team provided fast, helpful support. This support ensured a smooth transition and ongoing satisfaction. Discussions are ongoing about expanding Weever's use, including implementing digital conformance changes to streamline more processes.

Conclusion

The integration of the Weever software, a versatile safety software solution, significantly streamlined Mars Wrigley's associate recognition and quality management programs. Weever's innovative platform transformed these processes, resulting in increased engagement, faster recognition, and overall operational improvements.
